History of Grama Panchayat
Krishnapuram, located at the southern end of Alappuzha District and adjoining the famous Ochira Parabrahma Temple, has a rich social, cultural, and historical legacy. The name “Krishnapuram” is believed to have originated from the presence of the renowned Sree Krishnaswamy Temple, meaning “the abode of Lord Krishna.” The region also served as the capital of the erstwhile Kayamkulam Kingdom.
